About Kirk

We started because most agency copy is painfully forgettable.

Kirk Copywriting started as a one-person studio in Estoril in 2018, when Natacha Reina da Costa e Ruffer left a London ad agency and decided to work with brands on her own terms.

The idea was straightforward: most businesses have something genuinely worth saying, but the copy on their website says something else entir…

How it works

A process that respects your time

Discovery & Brief

Every project starts with a written brief. We send you a structured questionnaire that covers your offer, audience, competitors, goals, and any existing materials. For more complex engagements, this is followed by a strategy call. The brief takes time to complete — that time is well spent.

Research & Alignment

We do the work before we write. That means reviewing your existing copy, reading competitor messaging, and researching what your audience is actually saying online. For some projects, this includes customer interview summaries or review mining. We share our findings with you before writing begins.

First Draft Delivery

We deliver the full first draft at once — not page by page. That is intentional. Copy works as a system, and you should be able to read it the way your audience will. Along with the draft, we include a brief rationale explaining the key decisions we made and why.

Revision & Refinement

You gather all your feedback and send it to us in one document. We work through it systematically and return a revised version, usually within 2–3 business days. For most projects, two revision rounds is all you need — though we stay communicative throughout to make sure we stay aligned.

Final Delivery

Once revisions are complete, we deliver your final files in your preferred format — typically a clean Google Doc or Word file, formatted for easy handoff to your design or development team. For email sequences, we include import-ready formatting for common email platforms.

From "we do everything" to a positioning that actually converts
Brand Voice & Messaging + Website Copywriting

From "we do everything" to a positioning that actually converts

The client had a strong track record but messaging that tried to appeal to everyone — and therefore resonated with no one. Their website was technically competent but generated almost no inbound leads.

Within 90 days of the new site going live, the client reported a 3× increase in qualified inbound enquiries and two new client relationships that came directly from the website.

Launch Copy Package

A course launch that broke their previous record by 230%

The client had run the same course three times with reasonable but plateau-ing results. The copy had not evolved with the offer, and the launch emails had a flat open rate and almost no click-throughs.

Revenue from the next launch was 230% higher than the previous one. Open rates averaged 42% across the sequence. Three buyers cited the "this is exactly my situation" copy as the reason they decided to enrol.
Email list from 2% to 5.7% click-through rate in 60 days
Email Sequence Rewrite

Email list from 2% to 5.7% click-through rate in 60 days

The existing email programme was functional but uninspiring. Subscribers were engaging poorly, unsubscribing at a high rate, and the sales team reported that leads who came through email were less qualified than other channels.

Click-through rates went from 2% to 5.7% in the first 60 days. Unsubscribe rate dropped by 40%. The sales team reported that leads from email were arriving more informed and closing more easily.

What clients say when the words work

★★★★★

I had been avoiding rewriting my website for two years because every time I tried, I ended up with something that sounded like every other design studio on the internet. Kirk gave us something that actually sounds like us. The process was thorough and the final copy was better than anything I could have written myself.

Clara Fontaine Founder, Fontaine Design Studio · France
★★★★★

We hired Kirk for a product launch and the results exceeded our projections significantly. Natacha ran a tight process, handled our edits without drama, and delivered on time. We have since brought them in for two more projects.

Marco de Vries Co-founder, Basecamp Analytics · Netherlands
★★★★★

Our email list had been sitting there underperforming for years. The welcome and nurture sequences Kirk wrote increased our click-through rate by 38% in the first month. More than the numbers, people started replying to the emails — which had never happened before.

Isabela Monteiro Head of Marketing, Veloz Technologies · Portugal
★★★★★

The brand messaging framework is now the first document every new hire reads. It has made briefing writers, approving content, and onboarding contractors dramatically easier. Worth every euro.

James Thornton Director, Thornton & Partners · United Kingdom
★★★★★

My launch had been a source of stress every time I ran it. Kirk rewrote the sales page and email sequence and the next launch was the biggest I had run. The page felt like it finally understood my audience.

Common questions

Before you reach out

The process starts with a brief — either a written questionnaire or a short discovery call, depending on the project. We use that to scope the work and provide a proposal. Once the project is confirmed and a 50% deposit is paid, we schedule your project start date. We deliver the first draft in full at an agreed milestone, followed by revision rounds. Final files are delivered once the remaining balance is settled. The whole process is documented and communicated clearly at every stage.
Yes. The majority of our clients are based outside Portugal. We have worked with businesses in the UK, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, and beyond. All communication happens in English, and all deliverables are in English unless otherwise agreed. We do not currently offer copy in other languages.
We send every new client a written discovery brief — typically 15–25 questions depending on the project type. For website copy, we want to understand your offer, audience, positioning, and current materials. For launch copy, we need to understand the product, the audience, the pricing, and any previous launch data you have. For email sequences, we need to know your platform, your list, and your goals for the sequence. The brief takes most clients 60–90 minutes to complete, and the quality of your answers directly affects the quality of the copy.
Website copy projects take 10–14 business days from project start to first draft delivery. Sales pages take 7–10 days. Email sequences take 8–12 days depending on length. Launch packages run on a campaign timeline that we agree with you before starting. Brand messaging engagements typically take 3–4 weeks. These are first-draft timelines; revision rounds add additional time. We can offer priority delivery for an additional fee.
Standard packages include two rounds of revisions. Each revision round means we address all your feedback in a single consolidated pass — we do not charge per change within a round, only per round. Additional revision rounds can be purchased as an add-on. We find that two rounds is more than sufficient for most projects, particularly when the discovery brief is completed thoroughly.
